Welcome to CSR Insight™

CSR Insight™ LLC is an independent research and advisory firm focusing exclusively upon global Sustainability Regulation, Metrics, and Public Policy.  Our research coverage includes the legislative, regulatory, NGO, private, and public sectors.

Sustainability, a term which has redefined and now supersedes the term Social Responsibility, has become a crucial business focus globally, across all market sectors, in developed and developing countries alike.  It will soon become a way of life for both organizations and individuals, due to three long-term concurrent challenges:  burgeoning population growth, resource scarcity and biodiversity loss, and the economics of climate change.

These unprecedented sustainability challenges, which are forecasted by scientific, economic, and other technical experts to accelerate in magnitude and severity for the next several decades, have now fundamentally aligned the interests of all planetary stakeholders.

Sustainability Investment by the global investment community has grown to almost USD$6 trillion in managed assets, representing almost 10% of total global assets under management.

Sustainability Metrics provide the structure for sustainability management practices and sustainability performance measurement.  Sustainability metrics include both qualitative and quantitative measurements, and are currently in a rapid state of evolvement.

Sustainability Reporting is the practice of measuring, disclosing, and being accountable to internal and external stakeholders for organizational performance against specific environmental, social and economic/governance (“ESG”) goals and metrics.  Sustainability reporting is rapidly gaining adoption across all market sectors globally, and is now the norm among large companies globally, driven mainly by global investment community demand.

Sustainability Disclosure Regulation is gaining endorsement globally across environmental and financial regulatory regimes.  This disclosure regulation is part of a broader framework of government policy that is emerging to foster environmentally and socially sustainable private sector development and business practices.  Stock exchanges around the world are helping to facilitate ESG transparency and sustainable investment flows through initiatives that encourage or require increased disclosure by listed companies on ESG-related performance and risk factors.

Toward the Goal of a Comprehensive, Harmonized Global Sustainability Regulatory Framework

Global regulation of the commercial marketplace by necessity will assume an essential and overriding role in addressing our planetary sustainability challenges.

Given the scale, severity, complexity, and consequential nature of our global sustainability issues, what is needed is a global best-practice framework that can be consistently applied by all market participants in formulating, implementing, and authenticating prudent and judicious strategies and actions that engage our collective resources to mitigate and remedy our planetary crisis.

This global best-practice framework can best be achieved by working toward the development of a set of clear, comprehensive, synchronized regulatory reporting policies, standards, terminology, definitions, and metrics, harmonized across traditional governmental regulation silos and political boundaries.
